Hailing from the furthest reaches of Texas (every which side of the state--but mostly North & West), Casper Allen left home early in search of experience, and, years later, his search continues. Detailing his experiences in the Texas songwriting tradition of his heroes Guy Clark and Townes Van Zandt, with a raw and aggressive bluesy vocal styling reminiscent of the Texas bluesmen Freddie King and Albert Collins, Allen explores themes of addiction, life on the road, and the ups and downs of a life well-traveled with a style developed busking on street corners and playing in dirty bars across the greater U.S.
After years of singing accompanied only by his own guitar, Allen has built a strong performing catalog of original songs and hidden gems of the American songbook.
He spent several years accompanying Lost Dog Street Band as the opening act on their U.S. tours prior to the COVID-19 epidemic and embarked on several solo tours of the states performing with artists like Ryan Bingham, Vincent Neil Emerson, Matt Heckler, Arlo McKinley and countless others.
He released the full length Volume 1 in August of 2020, followed by The Magnolia Sessions in February of 2021. Following the COVID-related cancellation of his scheduled performances, Allen found himself in both a legal battle with the State of Texas, related to his past life as a street criminal and addict and a separate legal battle between himself and his former management. Fortunately, Allen has come out on the other side with a new set of songs, a record on the way, a fruitful collaboration with videographer Patrick Lewey, and a newfound wealth of the wisdom that experience brings.
Currently residing in Colorado with his ol’ lady and a young daughter, he enjoys a newfound stability, a good cigarette, a long walk in the woods with his dogs Hank and Clyde, and chicken, generally of the fried variety.
