Flossing

There’s a limitlessness to New York’s riotous raconteurs FLOSSING — singer/bassist Heather Elle & drummer James Maclay — who create “genre/gender-fuck music” that has erupted from a period of compression. Like an elastic band stretched and catapulted into the air, their sound exists within that instant space of release; grabbing the fluctuating and freeing state of being thrust into the visceral undercurrent of the human psyche. They are bold and unapologetic with their lyrics and performance, showcasing provocative ideas of sex, violence, and identity in a society hell-bent on capitalism and hedonic burn out. With the goal of expanding their sound, in fall 2022 they took a trip to Hull, England to capture field recordings and write seedlings for their debut full-length record with Stewart Baxter of (LIFE, Bombed Buildings) further pushing their direction into musique concréte, EBM, and industrial territory. Their EP’s ‘Queen of the Mall’ and ‘World of Mirth’ are out now via Brace Yourself Records, both self-produced and both mixed by Adam Sachs (Swans, Amen Dunes).
