Jairito y La Onda

Jairito y La Onda is led by musician, writer, composer, and producer Jairo Barsallo Rubio.  A son of Panamanian immigrants, a lover, a fighter, and life long learner.  He grew up discovering music and started playing alongside his family at an early age, experiencing the sound scapes of soothing melodies, and the heart-pulsing rhythms of Latin music, as well as the roaring, cutting, and captivating ease of guitars in Rock n Roll. As an artist he has appreciated and been formed by many genres throughout his life navigating the US as the child of immigrants.  Jairo has appeared in outfits Wild Yaks, Ritmo Cascabel, Slynger, The Kinky Fingers, High Plains Honky, George Cessna and Snakes, Ritmo Tropical (his fathers band) other projects.

Jairito y La Onda is alive with the thumping low end tones of bassist Giovanni Kincade and the infectious rhythms of drummer Rony Bonilla. Jairito y La Onda will leave you with an eclectic sense of sound, ganas to dance,  and the possibility of something new to be discovered.

Sunset Honor Unit

Sunset Honor Unit is a sentimental pop cooperative based out of Atlanta and comprised of dueling songwriters Drew Kirby (Mothers, CDSM) and Jake Chisenhall (Delorean Gray). Taking a “singles” approach to self-production, Sunset Honor Unit songs are snappy, refined and vibrant — primed with a premium of hooks for maximum impact. “Desire Paths”, the debut album out 9/29, is comprised of 11 such bops, leaning ever further towards the boys roots in folk & country. Just like the album cover, they have taken to wearing cowboy hats on stage; first as a joke, later as armor, helping to illustrate their twin-headed approach to classic forms of pop songwriting.

They say to “write what you know”, and on Desire Paths, Kirby & Chisenhall display adept capabilities in surf rock (opening track “Don’t Wanna Fall In Love Alone”), Everly Brothers balladry (“I Saw It In Her Eyes”), Prince-imbued passion (lead single “Wannabe”), gothic bossa nova (“Birds of Paradise”), cosmic country (“In My Daydreams”), fuzz rock (“Capsules”) and finally, full-fledged Onyeabor synth-pop on closer “The Great Divide”. Sunset Honor Unit draws from the widest swath possible, with particular depth in regional Southern music. The songs are all tied together by Chisenhall’s sweet, sultry  croon and Kirby’s more guttural, punchy delivery. There is plenty of Brian Wilson-style falsetto too, the boys being true disciples of southern-California escapism, and loads of dual harmonies playfully chasing each other around the tracks.

The album is out on Marching Banana, a collective record label that Kirby and Chisenhall have run since its inception in 2011, with local classics from Meth Wax, Sea Ghost, and Floral Portrait in its near 90+ catalog of releases. Sunset Honor Unit has opened regional shows for Of Montreal, T. Hardy Morris and Nico Play, and aim to take their act up the east coast in early 2024 in support of Desire Paths.

Nite Music

NITE MUSIC are a New York City rock n’ roll band established in 2022 by singer and guitarist Jamie Frey (ex-NO ICE, The Brooklyn What), guitarist Bryan Thornton (Holy Tunics), bassist Stuart Solomon and drummer / vocalist Jamie Williams, four long time members of the DIY community. Their first release, “(I’ve Got To Make) The Call / Shit City”, a double sided single about the darkness and depravity of modern urban living, recorded onto tape in Ridgewood, Queens. The debut full length, produced by Travis Harrison (Guided By Voices, The Men) is coming in 2024.
